7 Arrests, 8 Citations Logged At DUI Checkpoint
The operation, conducted by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, was held Friday night to Saturday morning in Old Town Temecula.
TEMECULA, CA — Seven motorists were arrested for suspected impaired driving and eight citations were issued for drivers either unlicensed or with suspended or revoked licenses at a Friday checkpoint held in Temecula, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
The Temecula Sheriff’s Station conducted the DUI / driver license checkpoint on Old Town Front Street and Moreno Road from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday, officials said.
A total of 1,296 vehicles were screened, and along with the arrests and citations, eight vehicles were towed, deputies said.

DUI checkpoints, such as the recent one, are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, with law enforcement looking for signs of alcohol and / or drug impairment, plus checking drivers for proper licensing, the department said.
