MENIFEE, CA — The City of Menifee will be holding its first E-Bike Safety Day on May 23, kicking off the event with a free safety lesson.
The "Ride Right: Menifee E-Bike Safety Day" event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Menifee City Hall building at 29844 Haun Road.
The event comes about two months after a Liberty High School student was struck while riding an e-bike. Last year, a boy was also injured after a driver crashed into his e-bike in Menifee.
Participants will be shown how to safely ride their bike or e-bike in the city. Those who participate were asked be able to ride a bike, bring a Department of Transportation (DOT) approved helmet, and their own personal bike or e-bike.
Part of the lesson will include a ride around the Haun Road-New Hub loop to safely apply what participants learned, officials said.
After completing the training and safety ride, all participants will receive a complimentary ice cream from Chick-fil-a.
