Another Pedestrian Killed Near Lake Elsinore, Police Say

Police say that the woman was standing in the street when she was struck by a vehicle.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA – A day after a man was hit and killed in Lakeland Village, police say a woman was also struck by a vehicle and died. The deadly incident happened late Wednesday night on Mission Trail near Sylvester Road, according to sheriff's Sgt. Nathan Kaas.

According to the sheriff's department, a report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian came in around 11:53 p.m.

"Deputies arrived and located the driver of the vehicle and an unresponsive pedestrian," Kaas said in a news release. "The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital with major injuries and later succumbed to her injuries."

The driver remained at the scene cooperated with investigators, Kaas said. They "showed no signs" of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Witnesses told police that they had spotted the woman, whose identity has yet to be released, standing in the middle of the street prior to the crash. They allegedly told her to come out of the roadway, but she did not.

"The pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol," Kaas said.
