Coroner IDs I-15 Crash Victim As Los Angeles County Woman

A Los Angeles area woman was killed in a single-car crash during Monday's early morning rainstorm on I-15 in Lake Elsinore.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A woman killed in a rollover crash on the I-15 Freeway just north of Nichols Road in Lake Elsinore was identified as a Los Angeles County resident.

Maria Sanchez Jimenez, 61, of Compton woman, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:15 a.m. Monday, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau.

A solo vehicle crash occurred during Monday's rainstorm. Jimenez was traveling northbound on the I-15 freeway when the vehicle, described by California Highway Patrol as a black pickup truck, rolled over into the center divider.

Just after 9:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers and emergency responders were called to the area of I-15 northbound just north of Nichols Road, where the rollover crash occurred. No other injuries were reported.

The driver, later identified as Jimenez, was pronounced dead at 10:15 a.m., according to the coroner's report. California Highway Patrol officers are still investigating the cause of the collision.
