In a touching message his son wrote: "Last night at around 11:30 pm two Chesapeake police officers came to my door to inform me that my father had past away. He was struck by a car while riding his bike on road somewhere in California. This person failed to stop and left my Dad on the side of the road. There won't be a day that goes by that I won't miss him.

"Wishing he could be here with his wonderful grandkids. Grandkids who will never know the amazing guy their Pops was. He wanted nothing more then to be here with them. You will always be with us Dad. I'm so sorry for the ways things turned out. You finally get to rest. I love you with all my heart and soul.."

Anyone who has information on the driver who struck and killed him is asked to contact Officer Strom at the Temecula CHP office, (951) 506-2000.
