Driver Killed In Crash With Palm Tree In Canyon Lake

One person died in a single-car crash in Canyon Lake on Sunday.

CANYON LAKE, CA — A driver struck a palm tree and died as a result of the crash early Sunday Morning, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Just before 2 a.m., emergency responders arrived at a major injury crash at Canyon Lake Drive South and Continental Drive in Canyon Lake.

"Deputies and Cal Fire personnel arrived within minutes and located a single-vehicle collision with the driver trapped," Sgt. Brad Foster said. Cal Fire personnel used the jaws of life and attempted to render medical aid.

"The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Cal Fire personnel and the Lake Elsinore Station’s Traffic Unit took over the investigation," Foster said. "The driver’s name is being withheld pending next of kin notification."
