EVMWD Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). EVMWD has received this highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting every year for 21 consecutive years.

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel and is required to meet the high standards of the program including “demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story” throughout the industry and most importantly to EVMWD’s customers. Only 10 percent of special districts throughout California are recognized with this honor.

“The EVMWD Finance team consistently strives to maintain fiscal prudence within the organization”, said Andy Morris, president of the EVMWD Board of Directors. “It is an honor to be recognized for excellence in financial reporting again this year.”

The CAFR includes EVMWD’s audited financial statements and notes for the year ended June 30, 2013, an independent auditors report, an analytical overview of EVMWD’s financial activities, and general information about EVMWD. It also provides statistical reports that detail the financial activities for the last ten years. Preparing the CAFR is an in-depth process and requires an organized effort of EVMWD’s entire Finance department.

EVMWD provides service to more than 133,000 water, wastewater and agricultural customers in a 96-square mile service area in Western Riverside County. The District is a sub-agency of the Western Municipal Water District and a member agency of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
