Excessive Heat Warning In Lake Elsinore: How Hot Will It Get?

An excessive heat warning was issued from 10 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday for Lake Elsinore and surrounding communities.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA - A record-setting heat wave has arrived in Riverside County that will stick around for two days before it starts to cool down.

Temperatures are predicted to be between 95 and 105 in valley regions and desert areas. The mountains could see temperatures in triple digits as well.

Sunday's highs reached 103 degrees in the downtown Riverside and Hemet areas, while Coachella hit 112, according to the National Weather Service. Sunday night, a Palm Desert electrical fire led to an outage at 33 homes, according to Cal Fire and SCE crews. Power was not expected to be fully restored until Monday afternoon, according to that agency, leading to potentially dangerous conditions for residents of those homes.

An excessive heat warning was issued from 10 a.m. Monday through 8 p.m. Tuesday for Banning, Beaumont, downtown Riverside area, Moreno Valley, Corona, Lake Elsinore, Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Palm Desert Country, La Quinta and Coachella.

Temperatures were expected to range between 95 to 107 degrees in downtown Riverside and between 110 and 117 in the Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, forecasters said.

The heat, combined with afternoon humidity of 15% to 25%, will also create elevated fire weather conditions for the inland valleys, mountains and deserts Monday and Tuesday, the NWS said.

Cooler temperatures were expected Wednesday, but most of Riverside County will continue to be in the triple digits.

On Thursday, downtown Riverside and Hemet are expected to drop to the 90s again before dropping to the 80s by the weekend. The Coachella Valley was expected to drop to the low 100s by the weekend.
