Firefighters Battle Grand Oaks Apartments Blaze

The blaze caused delays on Grand Avenue due to extra firefighting equipment in the area.

UPDATE: The fire has been confined to an exterior fascia board between the first and second floors of the buiding. Captain Mike Smith of Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department said the majority of the blaze was contained to that area, but firefighters have had to remove a lot of the board to check for hot spots. He said it took approximately 45 minutes to contain the fire. No one was displaced by the blaze, Smith said.

An apartment complex fire in Lake Elsinore is requiring extensive mop up, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department is reporting.

The blaze that broke out in the Grand Oaks Apartments complex at 15190 Grand Avenue Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. has resulted in extensive fire resources being called to the scene, according to a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department report. Forty-one firefighters and 11 engines were on scene, according to an early Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department report.

According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann, there are delays on Grand Avenue due to extra firefighting equipment in the area.

No injuries are being reported. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
