'Grandfathers For Golf' Volunteers Needed In RivCo
You don't have to be a grandpa, or even a golfer, to help with this program serving underserved, area youngsters.
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The Riverside County nonprofit "Grandfathers For Golf" is seeking volunteers, of any skill level, to help teach kids how to play golf, as a record number of children have signed up for the free program that serves underserved youth.
Volunteers will instruct students on such basics as posture, grip, alignment and swing one or two afternoons per week at Echo Hills Golf Course in Hemet and Golden Era Golf Course in San Jacinto, and even "non-golfing" volunteers can help with setup and administration of the program, organizers said.
The program is free for children ages 9 and over, with each child receiving a shirt and a free set of clubs.

"The program not only teaches the kids how to play golf," organizers said, "but also gives them fundamentals for a good life: sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, humility and tenacity."
"Grandfathers For Golf" is a non-profit charity that welcomes all children, with the primary purpose of serving underserved youths. For more information and to volunteer, contact Grandfathers President Tony Viola at 909-754-4148, or email grandfathersforgolf@yahoo.com.
