Harley Rider Killed In Lake Elsinore Crash

The deadly wreck was reported on Avenue 6 north of Bancroft Way.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A Harley-Davidson rider died Thursday afternoon in Lake Elsinore after losing control of his bike and crashing into oncoming traffic.

The man, whose identity was not yet released, was heading southbound on Avenue 6 north of Bancroft Way "at a high rate of speed" when he lost control of the 2005 motorcycle and slid into northbound traffic, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

He was struck by a northbound vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries, the department reported. He was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center but did not survive.

"The cause of this collision is still under investigation, and it is unknown if alcohol may be a factor," the sheriff's department said.

The man's identity will be released after his family has been notified.
