HEADS UP: Partial Closures Planned on Interstate 15 in Corona
Take the 15 to or from work? Plan ahead.

By City News Service:
Interstate 15 will be partially shut down in Corona this week to facilitate work on a new connector bridge between I-15 and the Riverside (91) Freeway.
Overnight closures are scheduled on the southbound 15 at the 91 interchange Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

All motorists traveling south will be detoured into Corona, routed around the construction zone via McKinley Street and directed back to southbound I-15 via Magnolia Avenue and other surface streets, RCTC officials said.
The closures are generally planned between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night, during which crews will be installing temporary infrastructure for the permanent placement of a new express lane connector linking the 15 and 91, according to officials.

Motorists were asked to observe lower speeds while traveling in the construction area -- or risk fines.
The work is part of the $1.3 billion “91 Project Fast Forward,” which got underway early last year.
The project entails widening the east-west corridor between the Orange County line and I-15, with new traffic lanes and ramps, as well as additional shoulder space and wider surface streets in the vicinity of the freeway.
Work was slated to wrap up at the end of 2017. However, a recent mishap involving construction of a ramp at Grand Avenue has raised the likelihood of a lengthened timetable, officials said.
