Coroner IDs RivCo Man Struck In Fatal Menifee Crash

A 47-year-old Hemet man died after he was struck near the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Sherman Road, officials say.

MENIFEE, CA — A pedestrian was struck and killed while walking on a Menifee street, authorities said Monday.

Timothy George, 47, of Hemet, was identified by the Riverside County coroner as the victim of the fatal crash. George was struck just after 10:15 p.m. Sunday on McCall Boulevard, near Sherman Road, according to the Menifee Police Department. He died at the scene, according to the coroner's report.

Sgt. Matthew Bloch said the victim was in the westbound lane when the driver of a Honda sedan approached from the east at an unknown speed.

The motorist, also not identified, did not spot the pedestrian in the westbound lane because he was wearing "non-reflective clothing," Bloch said.

According to the sergeant, the Honda impacted the victim, who suffered "severe" injuries.

"The driver pulled into a nearby gas station and contacted 911," he said.

Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived minutes later and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The motorist wasn't hurt.
