Home Depot Shooting In IE, Cops Shoot Suspect Armed With Edged Weapon

FONTANA, CA — Details are still unfolding about the altercation at the Fontana Home Depot that left a suspect dead. Fontana Police Officers allegedly shot and killed a suspect who was armed with an "edged weapon" inside a Home Depot in Fontana, according to reports from the scene.

At 6 p.m., authorities responded to numerous 911 calls in the area of Santa Ana and Sierra Avenues Monday, where callers alerted them of "a man in the road," Fontana Police said.

Witnesses say he was attempting to be struck by a car, then ran inside the nearby Home Depot store, located in the 16700 block of Santa Ana Avenue.

There, he armed himself with "an edged weapon," according to ABC7 reports. FoxLA confirmed the suspect was carrying a "carbon steel jab saw."

"Officers made multiple verbal demands" of the suspect, according to the Fox report, but the suspect did not comply or respond to "less-lethal force."

The suspect, who was not identified, was shot, and medics at the scene later pronounced the suspect deceased.

No other injuries were reported, and an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was underway.
