Navy Sailor From RivCo Killed In San Diego Rollover Crash

SAN DIEGO, CA — A man killed last weekend in a rollover crash in San Diego was identified as a U.S. Navy Sailor from Riverside County, authorities said.

Tyjuan Mayfield, 18, of Perris crashed the Nissan Maxima he was driving around 4:05 a.m. Sunday on southbound state Route 163, north of Friars Road near Mission Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office. The car veered off the freeway, went up an embankment, struck a tree and overturned.

Mayfield, who was stationed at Naval Air Station North Island, was ejected from the vehicle, officials said. He died at the scene.
