Perris Man Shot Dead In Compton, ID'd: Police

The man has been identified by coroner's officials.

PERRIS, CA — A Riverside County man who was fatally shot in Compton was identified Thursday.

The shooting was reported at 6:06 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of Lantana Street, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Deanthony Wills, 28, of Perris died at a hospital, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

"Deputies learned that the victim was arguing with (a) suspect in the middle of the street when the suspect began to shoot the victim," Moody said.

The suspect fled in a white sedan. Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
