PLAN AHEAD: 91 Lane Closures Happening Again

Beginning at about 11 p.m., the westbound 91 will be closed at Serfas Club Drive and will remain out of service until 3 a.m. Wednesday.

CORONA, CA - The Riverside (91) Freeway will be partially shut down Tuesday night in Corona to facilitate road work.

Beginning at about 11 p.m., the westbound 91 will be closed at Serfas Club Drive and will remain out of service until 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

The agency said that the closure is necessary for crews to install new overhead signage where the westbound 91 connects to the Corona (71) Expressway. The work is part of the "91 Project Fast Forward."

Westbound lanes will be gradually reduced beginning at Maple Street between 8 and 11 p.m., with the full closure in effect shortly after 11 p.m.

RCTC officials said motorists will be detoured off the freeway via the Serfas Club exit and routed back to the 91 via Palisades Drive and Green River Road.

The $1.3 billion "91 Project Fast Forward," which got underway in early 2014, involves widening the east-west corridor between the Orange County line and Interstate 15, with new traffic lanes and ramps, as well as additional shoulder space and expanded surface streets in the vicinity of the freeway. The project is slated for completion sometime next year.
