Police Chase From Murrieta to Temecula Ends in Shooting
Police were following a pair of suspected bank robbers.

Murrieta and Temecula police are investigating a bank robbery-turned-police-chase, turned officer involved shooting Friday night.
It all started around 2 p.m., when a bank near the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Ivy Street was robbed, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Spokesman Deputy Armando Munoz.
“Earlier this afternoon, Murrieta P.D. responded to the robbery at the bank,” he told Patch by telephone Friday evening. “They then spotted a vehicle that matched the [suspect vehicle] description and attempted to stop it, but they failed to stop.”

At that point, a pursuit was initiated, Munoz said.
“They went into the city of Temecula,” he said, adding that the Temecula Police Department police then got involved.

The pursuit eventually ended in a business park area of Temecula, near Diaz and Rancho California roads.
“Murrieta police officers were involved in an officer involved shooting at that point,” Munoz told Patch.
One of the suspects was injured and taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and another one was arrested, according to the deputy.
“And a Murrieta detective was treated for minor injuries and released,” he said.
Murrieta police have since asked the sheriff’s department to conduct an investigation into the officer involved shooting, as is standard procedure.
