Mother's Day Murders: 25th Anniversary Remembrance Set Tuesday
In 1993 in RivCo, "Alli" Bainbridge Jacobs was killed in front of her children. Deputy Kent Hintergardt was shot dead while responding.

TEMECULA, CA – Twenty-five years ago on Mother's Day, May 9, 1993, Allison “Alli” Bainbridge Jacobs was killed by her boyfriend in front of her children at a Temecula apartment. The officer responding to the domestic-violence call, Riverside County Sheriff's Deputy Kent Hintergardt, encountered and was shot dead by the suspect in the complex parking lot.
A public remembrance ceremony for the community and friends, family and co-workers of Deputy Hintergardt and Jacobs will be held Tuesday, May 8 at 10:30 a.m. in front of the Southwest Station at 30755-A Auld Road, Murrieta, officials said.
"This year marks the 25th anniversary of the murders of two of our own here in Temecula," the Temecula Police Department said. "The suspect first murdered Alli in her apartment while two children were present, and then he shot and killed Deputy Hintergardt when he arrived on scene. Later, the suspect took his own life.

"I'm the person who called 911 that night," C. Wade, a former neighbor of Jacobs, wrote in 2012 on the officer's memorial page. "My wife and I held Officer Hintergardt until other units and paramedics arrived. I blamed myself for years for ever calling 911. But as I've grown older, I know now that what life I have, what freedom and protection people have are because of great men like Officer Hintergardt. Men who understand the risk and sacrifice so much so that we can live in a better community. We don't celebrate Mothers day in our home for obvious reasons. We choose to that day to remember Officer Hintergardt and the ones he left behind. God bless them."
