U.S. Forest Service Is Hiring In Riverside County

Jobs will be available in 2020 at the Idyllwild, Lytle Creek, Big Bear and San Bernardino stations.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — Riverside County residents interested in hundreds of temporary positions that need to be filled by the U.S. Forest Service for work in the San Bernardino National Forest and elsewhere in California can submit their applications via the internet starting Monday.

According to the USFS, jobs will be available in 2020 at the Idyllwild, Lytle Creek, Big Bear and San Bernardino stations. The listings went live Monday morning on USAJobs.gov.

"The Forest Service was established on the principle of managing the nation's natural resources `for the greatest good, for the greatest number, for the longest time,'" said Randy Moore, forester for the agency's Pacific Southwest Regional Office. "Forest Service employees believe in service, interdependence, conservation, diversity and safety. If you're interested in helping us care for our nation's public lands and serve local communities, I encourage you to consider joining the Forest Service."

Across the entire 20 million-acre USFS jurisdiction in California, just over 1,500 jobs are vacant, officials said.

Positions include botanists, recreational services workers, timber cutters, firefighters, technicians, archaeologists and visitor center representatives.

The duration of the jobs span a few months to most of the year.

Anyone interested should visit USAJobs.gov and search titles such as "forestry aid" and "forestry technician," according to the USFS San Bernardino National Forest office.
