Shooting Range Still Eyed For Southwest Riverside County

The proposed location is a 2.33-acre site at the corner of Mission Trail and Bundy Canyon Road, near Elsinore High School, in Wildomar.

WILDOMAR, CA — An indoor shooting range is still planned in Southwest Riverside County, but the project applicant needs more time.

On Nov. 15, the Wildomar Planning Commission will decide whether to extend a previously approved conditional use permit for the project that's planned for a 2.33-acre site at 34020 Mission Trail, at the southeast corner of the intersection with Bundy Canyon Road, near Elsinore High School.

On February 12, 2020, the Wildomar City Council approved the project and conditional use permit, but construction for the indoor shooting range never began. The conditional use permit is set to expire in February.

The Planning Commission will consider granting a three-year extension for the conditional use permit, although the project applicant "is poised to begin grading and building construction within the next 60 days," according to city documents.

The plan calls for a two-story, 34,789-square-foot indoor shooting range. If built, the Wildomar facility would be the area's only shooting range.

To accommodate the project, Bundy Canyon Road would be reduced from six lanes to four between Orange Street and Corydon Road, according to city documents.

The project applicant is KCG Blue, LLP/Don MacLean.
