Victim ID'd In Fatal SR-74 Crash: CHP

Friday night, a Homeland man was struck and killed by a driver on State Route 74.

HEMET, CA — A 49-year-old man was struck and killed while traversing eastbound SR-74 at White Avenue Friday, the California Highway Patrol announced.

The Riverside County Coroner's Bureau identified the victim as Lefty Linscott of Homeland. According to the bureau, his next of kin have been notified.

Just after 9:15 p.m. Friday, a Hemet woman driving eastbound on SR-74 just west of White Avenue fatally struck the man as he ran in a southerly direction along the roadway, CHP Officer Mike Lassig told Patch.

"As she approached the intersection with White Avenue, the man ran directly in the path of her 2016 Hyundai Elantra," he said. Both CHP and Cal Fire responded to the collision scene, and the man was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Lassig.

"The woman remained at the scene and cooperated with CHP investigators," he said. She was not arrested. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the CHP, Temecula Area, is conducting this traffic collision investigation.
