Wildomar Duo Launches 'Children’s Liberation from Incarceration'
Upcoming event to commemorate a new book on at-risk children.

LAKE ELSINORE-WILDOMAR, CA - From Community Outreach Ministry: During the month of September authors and researchers Dr. Mona and Bob Davies will launch and commemorate their new book, “Children’s Liberation from Incarceration.” The Davies’ are the co-founders of Community Outreach Ministry (COM) a nonprofit organization based in Wildomar, CA for 17 years. The ministry’s mission is helping to break the cycle of incarceration by giving at-risk kids a second chance to be winners and champions. COM offers emergency referrals, workshops for children and families caught in the cycle of incarceration and outreaches to educate caregivers to prevent crimes against kids. Scholarships raised by the ministry engage children and teens in adventurous camping expeditions with mentors and gifts at the annual Angel Tree Christmas party.
Children’s Liberation from Incarceration is helping to transform the lives of youngsters affected by the consequences of parental incarceration to divert this population from the prison track to the college/vocational track and more. It is a call to action to the community, church and government to collaboratively help reduce the impact of mass incarceration on America’s children starting in Riverside County. The book includes success stories of local youth connected to Community Outreach Ministry for ten years transitioning into adulthood. These-youth have successfully broken the cycle of incarceration. Their lived stories have provided the qualitative insights as the measurements needed to develop an innovative technological programming interventions model, “Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration.” Previously, no narratives from these children’s perspectives, meanings and understandings existed in the literature. Not knowing their lived stories inhibited effective treatments and models. The “Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration” model has been added to the scholarly literature in the field.
The Davies’ are advocates and a voice for the voiceless children left behind by incarcerated parents. Investing in these children’s felt needs is imperative to decrease school dropout rates, drug abuse, gang resistance and diversion from involvement in juvenile justice. Early intervention utilizing the “Breaking the Cycle of Incarceration” model along with the resource lists for these families is helping to increase the youth’s capacities to become first generation high school graduates with skills to be self-sustaining, independent adults. The Davies has appeared on cable networks and has been recognized by U.S. dignitaries.
