Wildomar Standoff Ends In Assault Suspect's Death: Report

Riverside County Sheriff's Department was in a standoff with an armed suspect on Morelock Way.

WILDOMAR, CA — A standoff between the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and an armed suspect in Wildomar Sunday ended with the suspect suffering a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports.

At 9:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 32000 block of Morelock Way on reports of an assault in the area, the department said in a released statement.

Deputies discovered one victim and others outside of a Wildomar home. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The suspect had barricaded himself inside the home and refused to surrender. Ultimately, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene.
