'The Wreck' Relaunches, Still Promises To Be Lake Elsinore's Favorite Dive Bar
A reimagined Lake Elsinore landmark opens Thursday night as a Dueling Piano bar. What do you think of the new Wreck?

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A historic Lake Elsinore landmark and beloved dive bar reopens this week as the city's first dueling piano bar.
The Wreck, located at 117 W. Graham Avenue, is part of Lake Elsinore's lengthy history. The hours will be from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., according to the website.
The original Wreck bar opened its doors in 1940 and for decades sat as a marquee to the past.

"It’s a local anchor, a storied gathering place, and a living link to the city’s motorsports legacy," according to the new owners. "Over the decades, it has welcomed everyone from longtime residents to racers passing through, all while keeping its dive-bar soul intact." They have reimagined the old watering hole as a center of entertainment, and yes, it's guaranteed to look different when you return. Still, they promise it can remain your favorite place to experience a little lakeside nightlife.
The reimagined venue offers live music, interactive dueling piano performances, an expanded bar area, upgraded pool tables, and a redesigned interior. Community leaders say that the venue and its revitalization represent the city's investment, bringing new life and activity to Lake Elsinore's "historic core."

Some things have not changed, however.
The exterior facade, including a mural honoring the Elsinore Grand Prix motocross culture, remains intact. And yes, if you've driven by recently, the sign still lights up.
"This is about honoring the legacy of The Wreck while creating something exciting for the future of Lake Elsinore," said ownership. "We wanted to build a place where people can come together for live entertainment, great atmosphere, and a strong sense of community."
Mayor Robert "Bob" Magee said the reopening reflects the city's longstanding ties with the community.
"Lake Elsinore has always had a strong sense of community and history, and it's exciting to see a local landmark like The Wreck being revitalized in a way that honors its roots while creating new experiences for residents and visitors," he said.
Economic Development Director Gina Gonzalez said the venue supports broader downtown goals.
"Establishing a new entertainment-driven venue helps expand our downtown nightlife, support local tourism, and create a vibrant gathering place for the community," she said.
The Wreck's long-term plans include developing an outdoor entertainment garden and creating an open-air gathering space for performances, social events, and expanded nightlife opportunities in downtown Lake Elsinore.
Additional plans include activating the venue's adjacent hall space to support entertainment and nightlife.
Patch will share all grand-opening and ribbon-cutting plans once the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce announces them.
