1 Dead, At Least 2 Injured In 3-Car Crash On 405 Freeway Friday

The crash was reported at 5:46 a.m. on the freeway heading south through Irvine.

IRVINE, CA — One person died and at least two other people were injured Friday in a three-car crash on the California State route 405 freeway traveling south through Irvine, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash was reported early Friday morning at 5:46 a.m. and initially blocked two lanes of the freeway, the CHP said. The fatal crash shut down the southbound Jamboree onramp to the freeway for the duration of Friday morning.

One person was pronounced dead as a result of the crash, authorities said. Their name was not released pending next of kin notification.

According to the CHP report, one person was taken to an area hospital in Mission Viejo, and another party was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

Calls to the California Highway Patrol were not immediately returned.

All lanes on the freeway including the Jamboree onramp were re-opened at around 7:45 a.m., authorities said.
