3-Alarm Fire Burns South Orange County Business Tuesday

A unit in an Irvine strip mall was damaged after a fire broke out Tuesday evening, the Orange County Fire Authority said.

IRVINE, CA — One strip mall unit was damaged after a three-alarm fire broke out Tuesday evening in Irvine, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.

The fire erupted at the 5300 block of Walnut Avenue shortly after 6 p.m., OCFA Spokesperson Capt. Thanh Nguyen said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and it took firefighters 43 minutes to quell the flames completely, authorities said.

Westbound Walnut Avenue was closed at Jeffrey Road while firefighters addressed the blaze, the Irvine Police Department tweeted at 7 p.m.
