3 Die In Fiery Irvine Single Car Crash
Three were killed and a fourth was taken to the hospital in critical condition Friday morning near UC Irvine.
IRVINE, CA — Three people died and a fourth was taken to the hospital in critical condition Friday morning in Irvine following a single car crash, police say.
Orange County Fire Authority and Irvine Police were called to Harvard Avenue near University Drive in Irvine at 1:45 a.m.
A red Mercedes struck a tree, leaving three dead and only one survivor. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance in critical condition.

Irvine police are investigating speed as a possible factor. It is not known as of this report if the victim was the driver of the vehicle, or a passenger in the car.
"No arrests were made as a result of the crash," Irvine Police Lt. Dave Klug reported.

An investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing, according to authorities.
The identities of the victims were withheld pending notification of next of kin.
