Ambulance Topples, 4 Hurt In Hit And Run 91 Freeway Crash

Four people were removed from one ambulance and placed inside another after an Orange County CARE transport was struck on the 91 Freeway

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — An ambulance and medics inside needed medical assistance, themselves, after a hit and run collision early Sunday morning.

At 4:30 a.m., a CARE attendant and two Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were driving a young boy to the hospital when a hit and run driver struck the ambulance, an OCFA spokesperson Colleen Windsor said.

A Chevrolet Trax struck the ambulance, leaving it on its side, then burst into flames, they reported.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the Trax fled on foot.

All of the injured people were taken to UCI Medical Center, and their injuries were considered "minor," according to reports.

California Highway Patrol was investigating the incident.
