Arson Suspect Accused Of Lighting 7 Trees On Fire In Lake Forest

The suspect was seen lighting at least seven trees on fire in Lake Forest, Orange County sheriff deputies say.

LAKE FOREST, CA — A man was arrested in Lake Forest on Sunday after he was seen lighting seven trees on fire, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

The man, who was not identified by authorities, was arrested after witnesses reported his description to Orange County Sheriff's deputies. He was booked on suspicion of seven arsons.

The first tree fire was reported in a creek bed near Brookhollow and Sunlight Creek a little bit before 11 a.m. When Sheriff's deputies responded, they found six more trees on fire, Sgt. Scott Steinle told the Orange County Register.

While the fires spread to nearby brush, Orange County firefighters halted the progress of the blaze by around noon, authorities said.
