Beat The Heat At Disneyland

Temperatures are soaring inland, and at Disneyland Resort, the park staff is ready for you. How to stay cool at the happiest place on Earth.

ANAHEIM, CA - Summer is here, SoCal, and that heat is blasting. Guests who visit the Disneyland Resort during a heat wave need to remeber some key ways to stay cool. Hydrate, sunscreen and light clothing are some of the common sense tips.

While visiting you may notice cast members offering a variety of ways for you to stay cool and we advise you to take them up on it.

Some suggestions for hot days include maximizing your Max Pass by timing water ride fast passes for the heat of the day. Splash Mountain or Grizzly River Run lines can get long on hot days.

Still, hot is hot at the park.

Disneyland Resort cast members who work outdoors may keep water with them and have access to hydration stations backstage.

"We also have reminders about how to stay cool, and signs of heat related illness they should look out for," the spokesperson told Patch.

Disney has a program called “Wild About Safety,” and those messages are shared, reminding guests to stay hydrated and to use sunscreen.

Guests also can access theme park safety tips prior to their visit at disneywildaboutsafety.com, including common sense reminders, such as:

  • Light-colored clothes are best to help reflect the sun’s rays during warmer weather.
  • Wear UV protective sunglasses and a hat with a wide brim for blocking the sun.
  • Apply sunscreen that protects against both UVA & UVB rays every two hours. Adults should use sunscreen with SPF 15. Children should use SPF 30 or higher.
  • Don’t wait too long to hydrate. Hydrate before you get going and before you get thirsty. Drink 4-6 ounces of water every 15 to 20 minutes.

In addition to the availability of water fountains, guests can receive a free cup of water at most Quick Service Food and Beverage locations in Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park.

Water also is available in the lobbies of the Disneyland Resort hotels on warm days, they said.
