Car Suspended Mid-Air After Slamming Fire Hydrant In South OC

LAKE FOREST, CA — Two people were hospitalized and a car was left rising dramatically off the ground Saturday, June 8, after a traffic crash was reported in south Orange County, authorities said.

The crash was reported after a sedan sheared a fire hydrant at around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Jeronimo Road and Heidi Avenue in the City of Lake Forest, the Orange County Fire Authority reported.

Both drivers were able to climb out of their cars, and one vehicle was left partially suspended above the burst fire hydrant due to extreme water pressure, officials said.
