CIF-SS Individual Tennis Championships Begin Friday

The CIF Southern Section Ford Individual Tennis Championships begin with sectional play on Friday, May 20, when singles players and doubles teams that have qualified from their respective league finals will attempt to advance to the Round of 32.

Players are assigned to one of five section sites for the first round of competition. Draw sheets will be posted at each site. Here are the sectional assignements for Orange County Patch's representatives:

Andulka Park Tennis Center, Riverside (check-in at 7:45 a.m.) -- El Toro, San Clemente, Santa Margarita, St. Margaret's and Tesoro.

Corona del Mar High (singles; check-in at 8:30 a.m.) -- Dana Hills, Laguna Beach, Sage Hill.

The Tennis Club, Newport Beach (doubles; check-in at 10:30 a.m.) -- Dana Hills and Laguna Beach.

The lowest seeded eight singles players and eight doubles teams from the sectional tournaments advance to play in the Round of 32 at Whittier Narrows on Thursday, May 26 (12:30 pm check-in). The winners of these matches will move on to the Round of 16 and quarterfinals to be played at the Seal Beach Tennis Center on Friday, May 27 (check in at 11 a.m.). The semifinals and finals will also take place at the Seal Beach Tennis Center on Saturday, May 28 (check-in at 11 a.m.).
