Here are some more issues being raised at the City Council meeting Tuesday –
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
In the past there has been very little information shared with the public about what‘s going on in the City with regard to ongoing projects, although this City Manager has been diligent about keeping the Council informed. With my desire to increase the flow of information I asked that the City Manager share this report with the public, the Council supported my idea unanimously, and now we get our first “City Manager’s Report”. The report fills us in on the following topics –
- Affordable Housing
- Civic Center Update
- General Plan Update
- Lake Forest Mobile App
- OCSD Efficiency Study
- Veterans Park Update
- Agenda Management System Replacement
- Open Gov
This is a great source of information for the public and a great step forward in ouir desire to increase the flow of information.

SECURITY CAMERA SYSTEMS
Though they are called “security cameras” there is no real security attached to the cameras, and perhaps a better name should be chosen. In any event, there are 36 video cameras used at the Sports Park and the images are maintained for one year.
Staff recommends a new 3-year contract at $75,988 which is $57,392 lower than the existing contract bidder. For 36 cameras over 36 months that‘s an average of $60 per camera per month.
Bear in mind that this is the cost of maintenance. It doesn’t include any surveillance or follow-up that involves staff time.
I think the Council should consider adding this system to Veterans Park and to Heroes Park and I’ll ask for a proposal to go to the Council with next years’ budget.
