City Council Review - Jan 16

Here's what happened

Here are the results of Tuesday night’s meeting –

MAYOR

The new Mayor is me. Leah Basile will continue as Mayor Pro Tem.

COMMITTEES

Bob Holtzclaw was elected to Vector Control.

The remaining committee appointments remained the same with the following exceptions –

  • Water agencies -Scott Voigts replaced Andrew Hamilton
  • Library – Tom Cagley replaced me

Going forward each Committee member will prepare a written report, monthly, and the report will be contained in the agenda, under Consent Items.

EIR

The company selected was LSA

DRONE

The ordinance was adopted with the request that more specificity be added to the section about “weapons” and that drones be forbidden to fly above schools.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Police and Public Works were asked to investigate complaints made about the area near Muirlands and Tulip.

Police were asked to f/u about increased noise along Lake Forest Drive, especially from motorcycles.

Community Services was asked to replace shades taken down from Peachwood Park.

COUNCIL COMMENTS

Councilman Dwight Robinson asked that we present the Business Development report recommendations that he, I, and the Chamber have been working on.

Councilman Tom Cagley asked that we consider a Traffic/Parking Commission.

Mayor Pro Tem Basile asked that we consider a term limits ordinance.

I asked that we consider

  • Local No-kill animal shelter
  • Ethics Committee
  • Curbing campaign contributions
  • Setting up new committees
  • Conducting a Strategic Planning session on Jan 30, or failing that, in February.

BLAZE BERNSTEIN

The meeting was adjoined in memory of Blaze. Staff agreed to discuss with the family any appropriate action by the City on the family's behalf.
