City Council Review - Mar 6

Here's what happened Tuesday night at the City Council meeting -

POLICE SERVICES

According to the Police Chief we are well prepared to deal with any active shooter scenario and we are also spending time and energy trying to prevent any problems. The Chief spent about 10 minutes detailing efforts by the Police and SVUSD. You can watch this talk by going to the city's website and clicking on the agenda page.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Among the recommendations, the Council voted to

• Enable block parties at major shopping centers to promote local businesses.
• Create Mayor’s Business Council for quarterly meetings with major business executives.
• Focus retail re-vitalization on General Plan update.
• Consider business registration as a means to increase interaction with businesses
• Create regional workshops working with neighboring cities
• Consider topic-focused special events (e.g., child, health, B2B) promoting businesses.

These recommendations came from a sub-committee working with Councilman Robinson and the Chamber of Commerce (Mary Visconte, Jeremy Olson).

CENSURE

The Council received a lengthy e-mail from a resident complaining about Councilman Voigts. Council consensus was provided to bring the item up at a future agenda.
