Capstone Federal Credit Union is a federally insured, member owned financial cooperative. Our purpose is to serve our members by providing savings, loans and other services in a convenient, equitable and competitive manner. Our members are the bedrock of our credit union. Member-owned and not-for-profit, we’re a financial cooperative that puts your needs first. Our core responsibility is to actively serve our members and the communities they live in whenever possible. You’ll be treated with the respect you deserve and be assured of rock-solid dependability and accurate information from our highly trained staff. Our membership is comprised of a diverse social and economic group, and that’s the way we prefer it. We can only strengthen our credit union through a wide-ranging spectrum of worldviews and ideas. At Capstone FCU, we recognize the value of demographic diversity in our staff as well as volunteers. For this reason, we strive to bring people of diverse backgrounds and experiences into leadership roles at the credit union. We consistently communicate our service to members in a meaningful way so that members, potential members and the community at large will understand and appreciate the unique role that member-owned financial cooperatives can play in their lives. We promise to build our members’ financial strength by helping them to become financially self-sufficient and successful. We further this through consumer education and staying at the forefront of leading-edge ideas and educational programs. The financial strength of the credit union is maintained through annual board elections, periodic focus groups, committee involvement and diversity programs. We also provide financial and in-kind resources to others within the credit union community, and participate in cooperative activities from a local to a national level when appropriate. Capstone FCU also supports other public service activities ranging from the Alzheimer’s Association to the United Way.

For decades the City Hall has been closed every other Friday. That means literally the City was closed 10% less of the time that cities are usually opened. It started when the County was in financial trouble and many cities adopted this approach. The idea was that this process saved money since the City was closed 1 of every 10 days, using less electricity. It was also a nice perk for staff who got a 3 day weekend every other week. The only problem was that people weren't being served. Even after all the years that the City has been closed every other Friday, people still come by on Fridays only to find out to their dismay that City Hall was closed. Mayor Pro Tem Basile and I asked our colleagues to support us in moving to a full 10 day schedule. Our new City Manager checked with staff and staff graciously agreed to change their schedules in order to be able to serve the public Monday through Friday every week. This Friday will be the first day that the City Hall will be opened when it otherwise would have been closed.
