Diary of a Charger: How Do You Finish Off Winter Formal? Pizza and UFC

El Toro's Bella Knoth shares her diary for week of Feb. 8

Hey everyone!

Well, I made it through the first week of second semester, and things are going swimmingly. Lacrosse, school, and everything else are in full swing to finish the second half of the school year.

Lacrosse is officially in season! Practice is now five days a week and lasts longer than in preseason, but I'm loving it. In addition to regular practices, I have an hour of tough conditioning twice a week that includes running stairs, sprints, hills, and laps on the track. As my coach said, if we don’t match the skill level of another team, we will always be able to out-run them. Learning new plays and mastering drills is really making me excited for game time.

Another tidbit of good news: I understand math! Even though I am only one week into the semester, I can follow what is going on in class and I really feel like I'm grasping all the concepts we are learning. The only other change I have in school is transferring into a new Spanish class. I absolutely love my new teacher; he is a surfer and usually spends half the class telling stories of places he has visited or of his life when he lived as an English teacher in Chile. I have a feeling this semester is going to be good.

This Saturday was Winter Formal, and it was a blast. My dress turned out beautiful, my boyfriend Ryan looked handsome in his tux, and the dancing was great. Pictures were taken at the Sun and Sail Club right before sunset, my group went out to the Elephant Bar for dinner, and everyone came over to my house after the dance to watch that night’s UFC fight and snack on pizza.

Until next week,

P.S. The Red Cross Club at school is hosting a clothing drive that lasts until Friday. If anyone has new or gently used clothes or shoes and is in a donating mood, please bring them to the El Toro front office. Thanks!
