The good news is that after more than a year we are finally getting a shade for the dog park. On hot days, with the artificial turf, the place can be like a boiler room.
The bad news is that it's going to take more than a week to install the shade. While construction is underway the park will be closed, beginning today (Monday, Feb 12).
The estimated date of completion is Feb 22 but I'm hoping they get it done before then.

For dog lovers (who else would be reading this article?) there is some more good news. Residents in two of our neighborhoods have asked for a "dog run" as part of the neighborhood park renewal project. In addition, construction on the dog park in Portola Hills is only slightly behind schedule.
At the last City Council meeting the Council voted to re-open the idea of a local no-kill shelter and that topic is scheduled to be on the Feb 20 Council agenda.
