Electric Vehicle Bursts Into Flames At Irvine Intersection
The fire broke out in the middle of an intersection Saturday in Irvine, firefighters said.
IRVINE, CA — An electric vehicle fire broke out in the middle of an Irvine intersection this weekend.
The fire was reported Saturday afternoon in the City of Irvine.
Firefighters responded immediately, using a Cobra water piercing nozzle in order to project high-intensity cold water onto the vehicle.

"These incidents can be extremely challenging due to the intense heat and risk of thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries," firefighters said.
