Explosive Devices Found At Lake Forest Hotel, Arrest Made: Cops

LAKE FOREST, CA — Orange County Sheriff's Department discovered several homemade illegal explosive devices at a hotel in Lake Forest overnight, resulting in one arrest, authorities said.
One man was arrested, and was held on suspicion of multiple felonies, according to Orange County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Carrie Braun.
Deputies arrived at the Lake Forest Staybridge Suites just after 6 p.m. Tuesday, in response to a suspected domestic disturbance taking place inside one of the three-story hotel's rooms.

Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported that deputies spoke with those inside the room when they spotted suspicious materials. They called for assistance with OCSD's bomb squad and the Orange County Fire Authority's Hazmat Team.
Nearby rooms at the Staybridge Suites hotel were evacuated, Braun said.

Bomb squad members entered the room and " discovered multiple homemade illegal explosive devices, along with illegal explosive substances," Braun said. "With the assistance of the Hazmat Team, the devices and substances were collected and rendered safe." Guests were allowed back inside the hotel as of 12:30 a.m.
Brian Hittner, 28, was taken into custody and booked into the Orange County jail Wednesday. He is being held on $150,000 bail.
