IRVINE, CA — A homemade science lab in a rented luxury home in Irvine has triggered a heavy response from FBI hazmat teams and other local agencies.
Irvine Police issued a statement Thursday saying the situation began at a home in Altair, a guard-gated community of multimillion-dollar homes, "after a juvenile at the residence mixed unknown chemicals" on Feb. 23.
As of Thursday, a tented area could be seen outside the home — near the area of Cartwheel and Iluna — along with multiple unmarked trucks, trailers, Irvine Police Department vehicles and Orange County Fire Authority SUVs, The Orange County Register reported.
