Fire Chief Steps Down In Orange County

Chief resigns, interim Fire Chief sought in Orange County.

On Thursday, the the Orange County Fire Authorityโ€™s (OCFA) Fire Chief, Jeff Bowman, announced his resignation from the Fire Authority, effective immediately. He has served in that capacity since 2014.

In his notice of resignation, Chief Bowman stated:

โ€œIt is with heavy heart that I tender my resignation, effective this date, as Chief of the Orange County Fire Authority.โ€ He further stated โ€œI have enjoyed my tenure here, and would like to believe I have made a positive difference to the OCFA.โ€

The Chair of the OCFAโ€™s Board of Directors, Dr. Elizabeth Swift, stated โ€œOn behalf of the Board of Directors, we appreciate the dedicated service that Chief Bowman has provided to the communities we serve during his three years as the OCFA Fire Chief. He provided leadership to the Board of Directors to move initiatives forward.โ€

Chair Swift further indicated that Assistant Chief Dave Anderson has been temporarily appointed as Acting Fire Chief until the Board of Directors can meet to appoint an Interim Fire Chief, pending a recruitment to search for a
successor Fire Chief.

Under the acting leadership of Chief Anderson, this change will not impact the OCFAโ€™s ability and commitment in providing exceptional fire, rescue, emergency medical, and professional services to our member agencies, partner agencies, and the citizens of Orange County.
