First 'Jane Doe' in Trial of Alleged Serial Rapist Takes the Stand

Six different women say they have been sexually assaulted or raped by Lake Forest resident Sekayi Rudo White.

The trial of an alleged serial rapist from Lake Forest began Tuesday, with his first accuser taking the witness stand.

Sekayi Rudo White, 33, of raping five women and sexually assaulting a sixth over a period of time beginning in 2006. He allegedly met most of the victims at Orange County bars, including in Lake Forest and Newport Beach.

A woman identified only as Jane Doe said in court Tuesday that White drove her to his Lake Forest apartment and raped her with the help of another woman.

Doe, who was 19 years old at the time of the alleged incident, said she was at Huntington Beach bar Atlanta Lounge on Aug. 13, 2006, with a friend. She said she became too drunk to drive home and accepted a ride from White and his female acquaintance, who was not named in court.

After having three drinks, Doe was vomiting violently and passing in and out of consciousness, she said. The woman who was with White took Doe's phone away, and White then hid the phone, Doe said.

After getting to White's apartment, Doe said, she urinated on his front lawn and then went inside. Shortly after she entered White's apartment, Doe said, she agreed to take a shower, with her clothes on, with the other woman.

The next thing Doe said she remembers is lying down, partially undressed, as the woman stroked her hair and White, naked, stood over Doe.

Doe said White then attempted to have sex with her, but she screamed and yelled for White to stop, and he did.

The next morning, after Doe woke up alone in White's bedroom, White entered the room and raped her, she said. She struggled to stop him, but the rape lasted four to five minutes, she said.

Doe said she was eventually able to get in touch with a friend, who arranged to pick her up at a 7-Eleven in Lake Forest where White could drop her off, which he did.

Doe and her friend left the 7-Eleven and went to the friend's house, Doe said.  After telling her friend what had happened, Doe's friend insisted on telling the police, although, Doe said, she did not want to cooperate with authorities at the time.

During questioning, defense attorney Fred McBride, 67, focused on inconsistencies between the various accounts Doe had given to police of what had happened between her and White.  At one point, he called her a liar.

Deputy District Attorney Tony Ferrentino, 41, pointed out in his opening argument that six different women who didn't know one another have each accused White of sexual assault or rape. McBride declined to make an opening argument.

The trial resumes today at 9 a.m. in Department C45 of the Orange County Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. Judge F.P. Briseno is presiding over the case.

If convicted of all charges against him, White could serve up to 119 years in state prison.
