Frank Davies Sworn In As County Controller

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Frank Davies was ceremonially sworn in as the 12th Auditor-Controller for the County of Orange. The Orange County Board of Supervisors appointed Davies as Auditor-Controller at the October 8 meeting. The position was left vacant when Eric Woolery died unexpectedly in August.

The Auditor-Controller is the County’s Chief Accounting Officer, providing objective financial management and analysis, and oversees the department of nearly 400 employees.

The office handles the County’s accounting functions, including budget control of the County’s $6.8 billion budget, payroll for all 18,000 County employees, handling of vendor payments, property tax allocation and distribution, and preparation of the County’s financial statements.

Davies began his career at the Auditor-Controller’s office in 1984 as a staff accountant and worked his way up through the ranks to Property Tax Director. After over 33 years with the department, he retired in 2018. Most recently, he served the City of Villa Park as Finance Director.

Davies holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from California State University, Fullerton, as well as an MBA from California State University, Long Beach. He is a Certified Public Accountant in California.

Mr. Davies resides with his wife. They have three grown children: a son and two daughters, as well as two grandchildren.
