LAKE FOREST, CA — Orange County Fire Authority firefighters quickly handled a garbage truck fire in Lake Forest Sunday morning, OCFA reports.

The driver noticed that his truckload of refuse was on fire and pulled over into a shopping center parking lot before calling authorities.

"They are very common fires," OCFA Fire Capt. Public Information Officer Sean Doran said. "We just attribute it to something in the refuse and it catches on fire."

Garbage truck fires are relatively common incidents, Doran said.

After arriving on the scene, firefighters had the driver dump the truck's load onto the asphalt to prevent the fire from spreading to the truck.

Then firefighters combed through the garbage to extinguish any hot spots.
