Grab and Go for First Responders

New program supports Lake Forest First Responders

Michelle Tan thinks that first responders are really amazing contributors to our community, putting their lives at risk to protect us every single day! With so much division and negativity these days, she thought it would be great to come together as a community to do something for the first responders to show our appreciation. In January she reached out to the Lake Forest Police and asked them their greatest need. They indicated that they really need “Grab N Go” healthy quality snacks and beverages. The police officers are often on the go, in a state of alert, going from “call to call” constantly. Therefore, it will help if the deputies can conveniently take snacks in their cars while hurrying to the next destination. After finding their needs, she reached out to the Lake Forest community to come alongside her to serve the first responders. About 40 people came on board. By the middle of February hundreds of pounds of healthy snacks and hundreds of bottles of Gatorade had been delivered to the Police station.

Michelle plans to continue the program with deliveries every 3 weeks. She also plans to expand to cover Fire and Paramedics. If you want to get involved, e-mail her at mtbl@cox.net or call her at 949-648-9761

BTW – On Saturday (Feb 17) Michelle has invited everyone to come to Claim Jumper (Santa Marguerite and Marguerite in MV) at 11:30 for some “face-to-face” time to discuss the project.
