Hear Sirens? Fire Off El Toro Road

A series of spot fires were set in the brush off El Toro Road and Raintree Lane, Wednesday.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Spot fires lit up an area near along El Toro Road Wednesday afternoon. Orange County Fire Authority put out at least two small fires that were reported at approximately 2 p.m., OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz said. The fire was burning in a heavily brushed area behind Del Lago Elementary School.

"The fires were set approximately 100 feet off of El Toro Road, near Raintree Lane," Kurtz told Patch. "Both spots were approximately 30 feet x 30 feet in size, and located in a small creek bed."

The fire was contained in about 10 minutes, though smoke could be seen for quite a ways, according to witnesses. Orange County Sheriffs were on scene, as fires look suspicious in nature. The cause is being investigated. No homes were threatened, and no one was injured fighting the blaze.
