Heroic Actions Of Deputy Honored At Lake Forest City Council Meeting
An Orange County Sheriff's deputy whose quick thinking saved the life of a Lake Forest resident was honored at Tuesday's council meeting.
LAKE FOREST, CA — Lake Forest city officials honored the life-saving actions of one Orange County Sheriff's deputy during Tuesday's City Council meeting.
The meeting honored Orange County Sheriff's Department deputy Rodrigo Ruelas, who, on April 11, was the first deputy to arrive to a scene in Lake Forest where a man was found not breathing and unresponsive.
"He noticed the resident was unresponsive and started performing CPR, meanwhile the resident's spouse left to get their neighbor, Ms. Marcia Langstaff, for further assistance," a city staff report read.

According to the city, Langstaff is a trained EMT and further helped Deputy Ruelas perform life-saving measures until the resident was taken to a nearby hospital.
"The resident is now home with family," the staff report read. "It is these heroic actions that saved the life of this resident."

Deputy Ruelas and Langstaff both received Certificates of Recognition from the City of Lake Forest for their actions.
