It's A...Sandwich! Gender Reveal Wins OC Couple $10,000

LAKE FOREST, CA — The instagram page HungryOCbegan as a past time, but now it's earning one lucky couple some serious, er, dough. When Orange County Resident Nathan Lin learned of the Oroweat Bread Selfie Challenge (#breadselfiechallenge) he knew this was right up his and his wife's alley.

"We are foodies, so we wanted to use food in a creative way to reveal the gender of our baby to all of our family and friends," Lin said.

The pair decided to Instagram their baby's gender reveal through the contest, combining their love of food along with the much awaited new of their bundle of joy.

After learning about the #BreadSelfieChallenge from other food bloggers, the pair decided that a blue or a pink grilled cheese stretch would be a fun way to share the gender, in a visual way.

They practiced with the recipe until it came out just right--with one little hiccup. They were not aware of the sex of their baby, either!

"Our friends helped to add the right food coloring so that it would be a surprise to us, as well," he said. "When we stretched the grilled cheese apart, we saw pink and realized we were having a girl! we couldn't be any happier."

When asked what they'll name her, Lin said they weren't sure, but the couple does have a "play on words" nickname "Ball" Lin.

"She's coming September 6, and we're so excited to meet her!" Lin told Patch.
